Pathfinder announces triple dose of Tornado trips

A TRIO of Bristol-based trains hauled by Peppercorn ‘A1’ No. 60163 Tornado has been announced by Pathfinder Tours.

The new-build ‘Pacific’ has added the tours to its itinerary as it gets set for a return to the main line on February 9’s ‘North Briton’ from Leicester to Carlisle.

No. 60163 visited Barrow Hill for repairs to a distorted motion pin on its left hand combination lever, discovered during a main line test run on January 15. Two days later, it was stabled on the depot turntable awaiting attention and recertification. BEN JONES

‘The Summer Cornishman’ on June 23 is a midsummer day out to the far west, starting from Bristol Temple Meads and picking up at stations through to Exeter St David’s.

After tackling the Devon banks and the switchback main line through Cornwall, the train will stop at Par, where a range of optional off-train excursions is available.
