AROUND 30 main line steam, diesel and electric locomotives are being lined up for an open day to be staged at Locomotive Services’ modernised former Crewe diesel depot on Saturday, June 8.

Among the locomotives expected to be at the June 8 event is No. 46100 Royal Scot. The 4-6-0 is seen entering Highley during the Severn Valley Railway’s autumn steam gala on September 22, 2018 with the 1.30pm service from Kidderminster. DON BENN

The event is being organised by Virgin Trains staff based at Crewe station – supported by our sister publication The Railway Magazine – with the aim of raising money for charity.

The theme of the event is All Change, representing the evolution of the depot and the motive power changes introduced by BR and its successors.
