The purchase of Onslaught for preservation on 1 June 1979 was celebrated by all involved in the purchase, restoration and continuing maintenance of D832 over the past 40 years,” says Steve Crowther, who sent in this fantastic picture.

“The loco was purchased by Steve Crowther, Malcolm Kirkwood and Bernard Worrall and is currently looked after by the Bury Hydraulic Group.”

“The loco can be seen running on the East Lancs Railway and it has been seen at various railways around the country over the past few years. It continues to give pleasure to many enthusiasts especially those who remember the Warship Class in BR Service.”
