A second engine offered to Ivatt LMS 10000 project

THE Ivatt Diesel Re-creation Society, which  is aiming to construct a replica of LMS diesel-electric No. 10000, has a chance to acquire another engine of the correct type.

A 16SVT power unit was acquired in 2012 – No. IH1861 – and now the RAF, which bought these engines from English Electric in 1947 for use as reserve generators, has No. IH1863 available.

No. IH1863 needs to be moved urgently to enable demolition of the building it is housed in.

The society is appealing for funds to extract this engine on skates from the RAF building and to move both engines to a secure covered location in the Midlands.
