Hornby Mk.3 sleeper coaches make a welcome return in two liveries including a good representation of InterCity ‘Swallow’ livery and the most up-to-date Caledonian Sleeper scheme of teal and white (with the original purple/blue of the underlying ScotRail livery showing on the coach ends).
In addition to the sleeper coaches, the first of a small number of air-con Mk.2s have appeared in the form of Mk.2e No. 9497 in Caledonian Sleeper teal livery.
The models are all well finished, although the Mk.3s have missed the retooling being applied to Hornby’s Mk.3 HST stock. Notably, the models have bogie mounted couplings and buffers are not fitted to the sleeper coaches.
Departmental Mk.1s also continue to arrive with a brake force runner coach numbered as No. DB977352 finished in an unusual but colourful livery of blue, green and yellow. The coach is based on Hornby’s Mk.1 FO and runs on B4 bogies.
