Enjoy a unique opportunity to spend an evening ‘under the stars’ at the Watercress Line’s special 1930s and 1940s dance full of glitz and glamour.

A first for the Watercress Line, ‘A Night Under the Stars’ will be held in a marquee at Alresford Station forecourt on Saturday, June 17, from 7.30pm to 11pm.

Guests are invited to dress in their finest attire and get into the swing with nostalgic tunes provided by singer Lynsey Shaw and the Now That’s Jive band. There will be a wine bar, craft beer tent, food, 1940s vehicles on display and stalls selling vintage memorabilia.

Earlybird tickets for this special occasion are £20 until June 9, and £25 per person afterwards (no train travel is included in the price).

This special dance will be part of a two-day event over June 17 and 18. At Alresford and Ropley stations, Sir Winston Churchill and The Queen Mother are set to make VIP appearances as reenactors mingle with the crowds. There will be plenty of reminiscent music, a variety of vintage stalls, an Emergency Shop, an opportunity to experience an air raid shelter, vintage vehicles, War Bikes, Staff Cars, and a 1935 fire engine as well as 1930s and 1940s history displays.

The Watercress Line’s Interim CEO, Rebecca Dalley, said: “Our 1930s and 1940s event is always popular. This year, we have the addition of an evening dance too which is fantastic. We look forward to seeing guests dress up and capture the glamour of the swing era at our railway. Book ahead and don’t miss this wonderful occasion.”
