Richard Clinnick shares what’s coming up in the exciting August issue of Rail Express.
The August edition of Rail Express is unmissable.
It features an exclusive visit to Worksop to greet brand-new Rail Operations Assets Ltd No. 93001 as it arrived at its new home for the first time. This is the first of an initial batch of ten tri-mode locomotives that could revolutionise the UK rail industry. Included in the feature is an exclusive interview with Rail Operations Group head of engineering Richard Martin about the testing plans for the ‘93s’, deliveries for the remaining locomotives and where they could be used.
We also have images of the scrapping of Class 58s in France, very different from the introduction of the latest locomotives to this country.
Elsewhere we cover the latest with cracks found on TransPennine Express Mk.5s and a reduction in TPE locomotive-hauled services, Class 730/0s are previewed ahead of an autumn introduction, Class 398s have begun testing on the Core Valley Lines, almost 1000 ticket offices could close under plans revealed on July 5 and Caledonian Sleeper has been nationalised.
We also report on Class 180s moving for storage, new contracts for Railway Support Services and Locomotive Services has been shopping for stock again. In Rail Express Modeller, Nigel Burkin reviews the Accurascale Class 37/0 and Hornby’s Great Western Railway Class 800 ‘Trainbow’ while the modelling features detail how to improve lighting on Class 47s and repainting an ‘N’ gauge Graham Farish Class 90.
I hope you enjoy what is surely essential reading.
