The Nene Valley Wagon Group is to stage a photographic charter titled ‘Boston Bucket Bash’ for Monday, October 30, featuring runpast, station work and shunting cameos using the NVR between Yarwell and the Castor Straight.
As part of the event, and for the first time in preservation, it will be possible to witness and photograph two Boston J94s together.
The Nene Valley Railway’s own J94 No. 75006 has been heavily weathered and transformed into 68070. This locomotive will appear to be in light steam during the event and feature in posed shots around Wansford station.
Visiting J94 No. 3193 will be lightly weathered for the event and running as 68018. Both locomotives were resident at Boston shed 40F under British Railways and were the often-forgotten workhorses of goods traffic across the country.
The event will also feature appropriate signage for Boston station under BR(E), staff in period dress and some wagons featuring local posters and lettering. Visit https://nvr.org.uk/product.php/467/boston-bucket-bash for more information.
