The iconic No. 46100 Royal Scot will now be the guest locomotive during February half-term for a series of special pre-booked services at the NYMR.

It is replacing the previously announced guest, No. 70000 Britannia; work on vital repairs cannot take place until the parts needed are delivered.

Alongside seat-allocated tickets onboard No. 46100, families can also take part in activities, which includes an interactive fairytale-themed show on February 13 aimed at two to seven-year-olds in the cosy classroom at Pickering station, courtesy of Story Craft Theatre. Signalbox demonstrations and crafty corner sessions are on offer on February 12 and February 16.

The NYMR’s acting CEO, Laura Strangeway, said: “Sometimes delays to repairs happen in the railway world, but we are so excited to be open over the half-term and even more so now that Royal Scot is involved.”
