RUSTON & HORNSBY 294266 – a ‘48DS’ class 4wDM – was officially named Sir William McAlpine by Lady McAlpine, in memory of her late husband, at the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway (MSLR) on October 12.
The loco is owned by MSLR driver Lawrie Rose. He bought the loco in October 2017 from Sir William, who used it on his Fawley Hill Railway.
Following the naming ceremony, the loco took out beautifully restored LNER brake van No. 157787, providing some passenger rides.
These were its first passenger runs, as seen here.
