Northumberland’s Aln Valley Railway (AVR) has been encouraged by the response to its fundraising appeal to acquire Hudswell, Clarke 0-6-0T Richboro (1243/1917) – but further donations are still needed if the Alnwick line is to meet its target.

The Friends of Richboro Appeal was launched last year to raise £75,000 towards the total £130,000 purchase price, as agreed with the loco’s owner, Mick Fairnington.
The AVR has already pledged £55,000 towards this sum, with the appeal hoping to raise the remainder by 2020.
