Dinmore Manor makes it a Western 4-6-0 pair for Battlefield Line’s October gala

LEICESTERSHIRE’S Battlefield Line has further cemented its reputation as an unofficial GWR outpost by securing a return visit from No. 7820 Dinmore Manor for its 50th anniversary gala on October 18-20.

No. 7820 Dinmore Manor waits at Churston station with the 16.30 Paignton-Kingswear service at the Dartmouth Steam Railway on July 11. The loco was to remain on the Devon line until the first week of September when it returns to its Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway home. PAUL A BIGGS

The ‘Manor’ becomes the second Western 4-6-0 confirmed for the event, joining ‘Modified Hall’ No. 6989 Wightwick Hall on its first post-restoration visit away from the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. It also gives the railway three Swindon-built locomotives, the third being on-hire ‘4575’ 2-6-2T No. 5542.
